Joanne E. Artz, 81, passed away January 2 at Harrisburg Hospital, Select Specialty. She was the widow of Raymond V. Artz. Surviving are children, Ralph W. (Cheryl) Bieber II of Palmyra, Pamela (Robert) Deiling of Annville; grandchildren, Amy, Tony, Shawn, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Antonice, Anthony, Raylin; brother, Ernest Brightbill of Lebanon; and sisters, Kay White and Sandra Webber, both of Palmyra.

Kenneth A. Bixler, 75, Fleetwood, formerly of Lebanon, passed away January 1 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Virginia L. Greeninger Bixler. Kenneth is survived by sons, Lloyd A. Bixler, Anderson, SC, Brian S. (Betty) Bixler, Lebanon; grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Heather, Daniel and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Briley and Sophia; brothers, Aurther Bixler, Allen Bixler, Jr., Michael Bixler; nieces and nephews; and his partner, Joan Gordon and her family.

Joan Marie Bleistine, 78, of Lebanon, passed away December 30 at her home. She was the wife of Richard A. Bleistine. Joan is also survived by sons, Richard A. (Bonnie) Bleistine, Jr. of Lebanon, Raymond W. Bleistine of Jonestown; daughter, Michelle Marie (Greg) Whitman of Cleona; grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Tannon, Ryan and Jeremy; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nephews, Donald and Jeff Smith.

Donald L. “Sarge” Brenner, Jr., 67, passed away January 4 at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy M. Behney. Also surviving are children, Tracy (Donald) Maulfair, Jason (Kelly) Brenner, Shannon Brenner, Shasta (Michael) Flaugher, all of Lebanon; grandchildren; brother, John (Pam) Brenner of Lebanon; and sisters, Sandra (Woody) Heffelfinger of Lebanon, and Donna (Richard) Smith of Virginia.

Lewis S. Brough, 82, passed away January 4 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Roberta A. (Kiner) Brough. Also surviving are siblings, E. Walter Brough of Annville, Lester R. Brough, Kathryn Johnson of Lebanon, and Margie (Earl) Douple of Lebanon.

Earl L. Bucks, 91, passed away January 7 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. Surviving are his wife, Margaret I. (Coffman) Bucks; sons, Jeffrey E. (Julie) Bucks of Annville and Kevin D. (Candy) Bucks of Palmyra; brother, Harold J. Bucks of Elizabethtown; sister, Luella M. Edris of Palmyra; grandchildren, Daniel (Kelcey), Curtis (Ashley) Bucks, William and Lindsey; and great-grandchildren, Makayla and Landen.

Ruth M. Confair, 73, of Tremont, passed away January 4 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry “Snook” Sr. Surviving are sons, William (Helen) Confair, Tremont, Harry Confair, Jr., Pottsville, and James Confair, New Jersey; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Stahl, Tower City; sister-in-law, Betty Androshich, Tremont; nieces and nephews.

Lori A. Dice, 50, passed away January 4 at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of Steven E. Dice, and the daughter of Harlan and Donna Micken Zimmerman of Lebanon. Lori is also survived by son, Caleb H. (Anna) Dice of Fredericksburg; daughters, Tara M. (Benjamin) Kidd and Andrea K. Dice, both of Fredericksburg; brothers, Todd Zimmerman and Jared Zimmerman, both of Lancaster and Roman Zimmerman of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Addison and Chandler.

David Ferraro, 77, of Lebanon, passed away January 5 at his residence. He was the husband of Caroline E. (Scully) Ferraro. Dave is also survived by children, Eileen, Donna and David N. Ferraro; and sister, Esther Kane.

Jo Lee Ferron, 69, of Williamstown, passed away January 7 at The Carolyn Croxton Slane Residence, Harrisburg. Surviving are her husband, Wayne N. Ferron; daughters, Doris L. (Thomas) Hanlon, Harrisburg, and Debbie L. Ferron, Williamstown; and grandchildren, Sarah (Tim), and John and Joseph.

Ray J. Frantz, 98, passed away December 29. His wife, Vivian Irby Frantz, preceded him in death. Ray is survived by children, Ray J. Frantz, Jr. of Winchester, VA, and Mary K. Frantz of Alexandria, VA; and sister, Betty Zellner of Shillington.

Harry W. Gates, 88, passed away January 1 in Stone Ridge Towne Centre. He was the husband of Doris L. Early Gates. Harry is also survived by sons, Gary (Alice) Gates, Palmyra, Scott Gates, Jonestown, Craig Gates, Lebanon, Kevin (Cheryl) Gates, Lebanon; grandchildren, Alexander, Anastasia, Katie (Daniel), Mollie (William), Joshua (Christy) and Laura; and great-grandchildren, Holden, Sadie, Quincy, Madison, Avery, Grant, Dylan and Hollis.

Grace E. Gibble, 90, formerly of Annville, passed away January 5 in The Gardens at Palmyra. She was the widow of George A. Gibble. Surviving are son, Allen G. (Diane) Gibble of Annville; grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, and Ethan; great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Ulrich of Martinsburg.

Julia Gonzalez, 79, of Lebanon, passed away December 31 at Cedar Haven. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Candi Matias, Maria Torres, Olga Estrada, Nancy Morales; sons, Luis Torres, Pedro Torres, Frankie Gonzalez, and Josue Gonzalez; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Ruth M. Gross, 78, of Jonestown, passed away December 31 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was the wife of Bruce S. Gross. Ruth is also survived by daughter, Sheri L. (Nicholas) Vasil of Bel Air, MD; son, Jeffrey D. Gross of Harrisburg; sister, Bonita Light of Bethel; brothers, David Light of Garland, TX, Paul Light and Mark Light, both of Myerstown; grandchildren, Douglas, Brian and Jennifer; and great-grandsons, Demetrius and Dean.

Thomas L. Grumbein, 78, of North Annville Twp., passed away January 5 in Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Helen L. Morrison Grumbein.

Barbara J. Haber, 89, longtime resident of Lebanon, passed away January 3 in Cornwall Manor. She was the wife of Walter H. Haber. Other survivors include daughters, Jill M. (Thomas) Coffey of New York, NY, and Holly A. Haber of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren, Skyler and Dashiell.

Malissa Ann (Bohaczyk) Hennessey, 40, passed away December 27. She is survived by her husband, Christian Hennessey; son, Justin Tyler; daughter, Shaylin Grace; father, James Edward Bohaczyk; mother, Susan Jane (Royer) Bohaczyk; sister, Heidi Miller; brother-in-law, Thomas Miller; and sister-in-law, Laura Hennessey.

John L. Hester, a longtime resident of Lake Wynonah, passed away January 1 at home. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Moser Hester; children, Kami (Greg) Hollenbach, Schuylkill Haven, and Franklin B. Hester; grandchildren, Alexander, Darian, and Tonya (Phillip); and great-grandchild, Hannah.

George E. Hoffman, 98, of Pine Grove, passed away December 28 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Dorothy Wiegand Hoffman. Also surviving are sons, Lawrence (Joanne) Hoffman, Donald Hoffman and Philip Hoffman, all of Pine Grove; granddaughter, Amanda (Andrew); and niece, Susan (Ernie) Scott.

Juanita “Skip” Huffer, 97, passed away January 6. Her survivors include her nephew, Glenn (Carol) Huffer of Mechanicsburg; and nieces, Linda, Janet, Nancy, Dorothy, Rosalie.

Robert A. Hummel, 89, of East Hanover Twp., Dauphin Co., passed away January 2 in his home. He was the widower of Eva E. (Basehore) Hummel. Surviving are children, Dennis C. Hummel of Hummelstown and Lori G. (Barry L.) Smith of Palmyra; sister, Sarah Hermansky; grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Betty Jane Katos, 90, passed away January 3. She was the widow of John A. Katos, Jr. Surviving are sons, Richard W. Katos of Washington, VA, and David M. Katos (Louie Malloy) of Alexandria, VA; sister, Christine Workman Shanko of Mills River, NC; nieces and nephews.

Gene G. Krall, 80, passed away January 3 at Cedar Haven. He was the husband of Marion E. Light Krall. Gene is also survived by daughters, Cindy E. Krall of Jonestown and Sharon M. (James) Secoges of Lebanon; brother, Merlin Krall of Jonestown; sisters, Shirley Thome of Jonestown, Betty Brandt and Doris Swisher, both of Myerstown, Janice Nolan of Jonestown, and Carol Sue Dunn of Fredericksburg; and grandson, Daniel.

Arthur R. “Bob” Lane, 73, of Cressona, formerly of Easton, passed away January 3 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy B. Greig Lane. Also surviving are daughter, Kathryn Lane, Bethlehem; sons, Robert Lane, Florida, John Lane and his wife and family, Indiana, Bryan Lane, Cressona, and Bradley Lane, Shoemakersville; granddaughter, Aubrey Marie; siblings, Charles Lane, Somerset, OH, Helen (Gary) Schwartz, Pickerington, OH, Sue (David) Roth, North Carolina, and Fred Fitzgerald, Nevada.

Betty A. Miller, 80, passed away January 5 at Cedar Haven. She was the wife of David H. Miller, Sr. Betty is also survived by sons, David (Patricia) Miller, Jr. of Sand Hill and Jeffrey Miller of Jonestown; daughter, Cindy (Douglas) Royer of Lititz; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Robert E. Miller, 92, of Mt. Gretna, passed away January 7 at his home. He was the husband of Janice L. Hoover Bode Miller. Robert is also survived by children, Donna M. Getz of Lancaster, Patricia A. (Tony) Labua of Charlottesville, VA, and Stephen R. (Christine) Miller of Strasburg; stepchildren, Gale Adamczyk of Philadelphia, Connie Eberly of Brickerville, Kerry Bode of Aurora, CO, Edwadeen Sentz of Brickerville, Scott Bode of Conestoga, Michael Bode of KY, Jeffrey Bode of Mt. Dennis “Ozzie” Moore, 72, passed away January 3. He was the husband of Loretta (Hozella) Moore. Also surviving are sons, Dennis (Jennifer) of Palmyra and John and Tom (Sienna) of Minneapolis; and grandchildren, Emily, Ethan and Francis.

Rev. David E. Myers, 78, passed away December 24 in Villa Rica, GA. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bender) Myers; children, Kim (Victor) Edmonds, Craig (Deb) Myers, Karen (Tracy) Green; grandchildren; great-grandchild; and siblings, Phyllis (Elmer) Krall of Jonestown, Walter of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Patsy (George) Emery of Sparks, NV.

Jeanne L. Petry-Hyypio, 56, of Lebanon, passed away January 1 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Bob E. Hyypio. Jeanne is survived by daughter, Hanna J. Hyypio of Lebanon; brothers, Jeffrey Louis (Yang) Petry of Thailand, Judith L. (Wade) Gettle, Myerstown, Jerold L. (Gina) Petry of California; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her stepmother, Jean Gleason Petry.

Kay Francis Reiner, 79, passed away January 5 in Cedar Haven, Lebanon. Surviving are daughter, Kim (Terry) Hix of Bethel; siblings, June George, Gene Betz, Keith Betz, Ernie Betz, and Phyllis Eckert; grandchildren, Derrick and Laura; nieces and nephews.

John A. Ressler, 75, of Valley View, passed away January 4 at Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill. He is survived by brothers, Dennis K. (Nid) Ressler, Thailand, and David C. (Donna) Ressler, West Chester, OH; and niece, Maria A. Ressler, West Chester.

Charles R. Rice, 90, formerly of Manheim, passed away January 1 at Cedar Haven, Lebanon. He was the widower of Mary L. (Dubbs) Rice. Charles is survived by daughters, Charlene (Steven) Stokes of Lebanon, Wanda (Ronald) Stauffer; stepdaughter, Donna Kendall of Lebanon; stepson, David (Cecelia) Ruhl of Lebanon; grandchildren, Jacob, Jennifer, Peter, and Corey; great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, John Rice; nieces and nephews.

Charles M. “Jess” Rissinger III, 73, passed away December 30 at his residence. He was the husband of April L. (Snavely) Rissinger. Also surviving are children, Greg A. (Melissa) Rissinger of Lebanon, Michelle (David) Royer of Lawn, Kristen (Brian) Witmer of Missouri; grandchildren, Benjamin, Dutch, Dakota, Tiffany; great-granddaughter, Ava; and sister, Connie (Ruben) Behney of Lemoyne.

Daniel I. Rodriguez II, 24, passed away January 3. He was the son of Bonnie Hollinger. Daniel is survived by brothers, Joshua Leedy, Jason Varela; grandmother; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn M. Schultz, 71, of Hegins, passed away January 3 at the Green Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pitman. She is survived by her husband, Peter Schultz; sons, Peter Schultz, Wernersville, and Stacey S. Schultz, Hegins; grandson, Lance; and sister, Sally Schwartz, Calimesa, CA.

Mary Anna Schwartz, 97, of Hegins, passed away December 28 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.Her husband, Russel L. Schwartz, preceded her in death. Mary is survived by sisters-in-law, Ann Shadle, Muir, Gloria (Melvin) Kroh, Hegins, and Patricia (Hilbert) Moyer, Millersburg; brothers-in-law, Chester Schwartz, Hegins, Theodore (Katie) Schwartz, Frank (Carol) Schwartz, and David (Diane) Schwartz, all of Hegins; nieces and nephews.

Harry B. Sechrist, Jr., 89, passed away January 2 at Countryside Christian Community. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine K. (Ebright) Sechrist; daughters, Susan K. (Diehl) Snyder, Shirley A. James J. Sheely, 87, formerly of Lancaster, passed away December 30 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was the husband of Janet K. Sheely. Survivors include sons, Scott (Jacquelyn) Sheely, Bruce (Jeanette) Sheely and Mark (Marianne) Sheeley; grandchildren, Andrew, Adrienne (David), Ryan (Rachel) and Adam; great-grandchildren, Philip, Joy, Henry, Conner and Sydney; niece, Doreen (Michael) Heider; nephew, Michael Sheely; brother-in-law, Donald Wiker of Ocala, FL, and sister-in-law, Sally Wiker.

John R. Shiner, 82, of Lebanon, passed away January 3 at his home.Surviving are wife, Viola C. Virginia L. Shirk, 75, passed away December 28 in the York Hospital. She was the wife of James W. Shirk. Ruth M. Smith, 94, of Palmyra, passed away December 31 in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. She was the widow of Harry A. Smith. Surviving are daughters, Eileen Smith of Annville, Patricia Allwein of Mt. Gretna, Nancy Cherniss of Sonoma, CA, Carolyn Fisher of Johnstown, and Cathryn Smith of Fredericksburg; sisters, Annabel Greenley of Elizabethtown and Norma Fogle of Maytown; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Elva M. “Tilly” Gentile Spicher, 92, of Elizabethville, passed away January 4 at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Spicher. Surviving are sons, Gary P., Rodney D., and Scott A., all of Elizabethville; Nina Markel, Carlisle; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

William H. Umberger, 86, passed away January 2 in the Castagna House at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. He was the husband of Mary L. Smith Umberger. Also surviving are daughter, Karen Umberger of Annville; sons, Kevin (Janet) Umberger of Cleona, Kory (Kathy) Umberger of Harrisburg; foster daughter, Judy (Scott) Bowers of Seattle, WA; brother, Donald D. (Florence) Umberger of Fontana; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Garrett D. Van Hoesen, 69, of Palmyra, passed away January 5 in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. Surviving are his wife, Sharon E. (Knouse) Van Hoesen; children, Nowell (Christa) Van Hoesen, Aubre Van Hoesen and Lindsay Hoke; siblings, Jan (Karen) Van Hoesen, Pieter (Nancy) Van Hoesen and Kathryn (Paul) Bredlau; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Paul K. Wentzel, 85, passed away January 6 in Cedar Haven. He was the husband of the late Anna Mary Tice Wentzel. Paul is survived by daughters, Antoinette (Robert) Noll and Patrice (Robert) Long, both of Lebanon; grandchildren, Lindsey (Seth), Leslie (Jason), Ian (Angie), Ina (Edward); great-grandchildren, Weston, Cameron, Edward III, Payton; and sister, Joanne Andrews of Lebanon.

Robert J. Yeakley, 92, formerly of Myerstown, passed away January 4 at Juniper Village, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn J. (Donley) Yeakley. Robert is survived by daughter, Deborah (Norman) Miller of Richland; grandchildren, Robert (Reba), Michael (Nichole), Holly (Jonathan), Nora; and great-grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Reuben, Ray, Trevor (Jackie) and Shannah.

Justin Michael Yingling, 36, passed away January 1 at Glendale Adventist Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Jane Yingling of Hershey; brother, Jordan (Gloria) Yingling of Los Angeles; his wife, Elizabeth Thomas Yingling of New Cumberland; aunts, uncles and cousins.
